A fond farewell…


We bid a fond farewell and happy retirement to Virginia “Ginny” Tanji, Library Director of the UHM John A. Burns School of Medicine Health Sciences Library, after 25 years of dedicated service to the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Ginnyretired on December 31, 2014.

Ginny got her start in medical libraries at the Dana Medical Library at the University of Vermont. She received her graduate degree at the University of Illinois, and returned to Hawaii to fill a vacancy at the Hawaii Medical Library. She began her career at the University of Hawaii as the public health librarian in the Biomedical Building on the Manoa campus. In 2005, she was appointed Director of the Health Sciences Library when the new medical school building was inaugurated. Ginny has collaborated with National Library of Medicine (NLM) and NN/LM on numerous endeavors throughout the years. We will miss her dedication, enthusiasm, and sense of humor!
