Native Voices Exhibition

native_voices_exhibit Native Voices: Native People’s Concept of Health and Illness, is a  traveling exhibit sponsored by the National Library of Medicine currently on view at the Health Sciences Library.

The exhibit examines health and medicine among contemporary Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians, and explores the connection between wellness, illness, healing, and cultural life through a combination of interviews, artwork, and interactive media.

This exhibit was years in the making involving the Director of the National Library of Medicine, Dr. Donald Lindberg, MD, traveling to different parts of the country including Hawaii, Alaska, and Arizona where native peoples reside.

Opening ceremony will be held on Friday, November 14 at 11 AM. The exhibit will run from November 14 through the end of December at the Health Sciences Library, thereafter to be exhibited at the UH Manoa Hamilton Library.  If you have any questions please contact us at 692-0810.
